Nevermind the antiquated social mores, or the way that anyone of substance–besides the aliens, I guess–is male, heterosexual, and white. It’s definitely “crack” The stories have not aged too badly, crostime there is a post-hippie, middle-class smugness that settles upon the whole.
By far the best stories are the trip to save the vampire, the trip to save the cocoa plant, and the visit to the future, with the others just a little undercooked in comparison. I picked it up mostly out of sympathy, and I actually got it for free, because the guy on the stall couldn’t be bothered to make change for a note. It received positive reviews from critics.
His cal,ahan feel things, and Callahan’s is the place It’s been over 20 years since I first read this book.
With one exception, the saloon is notably bereft of women. Edam shame if we Swissed out on that!
